Dick Clark Underwent Prostate Procedure Prior to Death | NBC Los Angeles

Legendary entertainer and producer Dick Clark underwent prostate surgery the day before he died of a heart attack, his publicist confirmed Tuesday.
According to Clark's death certificate, he underwent a procedure on April 17 to cure acute urinary retention due to benign prostatic hyperplasia, which usually means the prostate becomes so inflamed that it becomes difficult to urinate.
"It is a death certificate. It is public record and that's what the death certificate says," said Paul Shefrin, publicist.
Clark died at Santa Monica's St. John's Hospital from a heart attack as a result of coronary artery disease, according to the certificate.
